Authenticity Guarantee
Every piece is hand-selected, cleaned, and described using over 20 years of vintage experience. When a listing says a piece is vintage, it is vintage. If an item isn't as described, I'll refund you in full, including shipping.
Vintage Condition
Every piece here is pre-loved and often decades old, so expect gentle signs of age and use, like light scratches, softened plating or finish, small marks, or patina. That's part of each piece's history and charm, and nothing will look fresh off a showroom floor.
Anything beyond normal wear, such as chips, cracks, repairs or damage, is always pointed out in the description and shown in the photos. If an item arrives with a flaw I didn't mention, my return policy has you covered.

Vintage Black Velvet Perch Hat | Rhinestone Floral Brooch & Grosgrain Bow | Calot Beret Style | 7" | 1940s-1950s
A little black velvet hat with a lot of sparkle, ready to perch on top of your curls just as it did decades ago.
This petite mid-century black velvet perch hat, sometimes called a calot or pancake beret, has a flat, gently domed crown and a neatly rolled edge. Across the front, a crisp black grosgrain ribbon finishes in a tailored flat bow, topped with a silver-tone rhinestone brooch: an openwork floral spray of clear rhinestone flower clusters and leaves around one larger round stone. The brooch is attached to the hat and has riveted construction, with the settings riveted to the frame rather than cast in one piece. The darkened patina on the metal gives it the warm glow of true vintage costume jewelry.
Small hats like this were made to sit on top of the head, tipped slightly forward, over the sculpted hairstyles of the 1940s and 1950s. Two velvet-covered wire grips inside help hold it in place, and a bobby pin or hat pin adds extra security. There is no maker's label, which is common for hats of the era. Based on its shape and construction, it dates to about the late 1940s to 1950s. Lovely for holiday parties, weddings, church, swing dancing or any vintage-inspired evening look.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The velvet, ribbon bow and rhinestone brooch present beautifully from the outside. The inside shows signs of use and fading, and the velvet covering the two inner wire grips is worn and has faded to a brownish tone. The silver-tone metal of the brooch has a darkened patina from age. Please see all photos.
