Vintage Condition
Every piece here is pre-loved and often decades old, so expect gentle signs of age and use, like light scratches, softened plating or finish, small marks, or patina. That's part of each piece's history and charm, and nothing will look fresh off a showroom floor.
Anything beyond normal wear, such as chips, cracks, repairs or damage, is always pointed out in the description and shown in the photos. If an item arrives with a flaw I didn't mention, my return policy has you covered.

Antique Royal Vienna Style Porcelain Cabinet Plate | Signed Heer | Bacchante with Grapes & Dog | Cobalt Blue & Raised Gold Border | Beehive Mark | 6.5"
A Bacchante, her grapes and her dog: honestly, the ideal guest list for any party. This antique Royal Vienna style porcelain cabinet plate, signed Heer in gold, centers on a classical scene of a Bacchante, a follower of Bacchus, crowned with vine leaves. She lifts a golden cup in one hand and a bunch of grapes in the other, with a leopard skin and a red cloak draped around her, a hound resting at her feet and grapevines climbing the tree behind her.
The scene is framed by a ring of raised gold beading and a rich cobalt blue border decorated with gold acanthus scrolls and tiny white enamel jewel dots, finished with gold bands at the rim. The grapes are picked out in raised enamel so they actually stand up from the surface. Plates like this were made to be displayed, not used, and it's beautiful on a plate stand, in a curio cabinet or hung on a wall.
Signature, era and mark: The scene is signed in gold at the lower right; it reads as C. Heer. Heer is one of the best-known signatures on Royal Vienna style porcelain. The scene appears to be a fine transfer finished by hand with raised enamel and gilding, which is how most signed Royal Vienna style cabinet plates of the era were made. The underglaze blue beehive (shield) mark on the back is the classic Royal Vienna style mark; the original Vienna factory closed in 1864, and the mark was then used by German and Austrian makers and decorators, most often in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which is when this plate dates from.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. There is light wear to the gold at the outer rim and some fine crazing to the glaze on the back. Please see all photos.
