Deep forest green with a flash of peacock. This vintage emerald green rhinestone brooch is built in two layers of glass stones set in gold-tone metal: a base of dark green navettes in open-back settings, so light comes through them, topped with six domed navette cabochons that shimmer aqua, green and pink with an aurora borealis finish. A round faceted aurora borealis stone in blue-green sits at the center.
The stones fan out from the middle like two sprays of leaves, so it sits beautifully across a coat lapel, at a collar, on a scarf or pinned to a hat band. Green and gold make it a natural for the holidays, St. Patrick's Day or a May birthday.
It is not marked. The aurora borealis finish was introduced in the mid-1950s, and layered, open-back navette brooches like this were most popular in the late 1950s and 1960s, which is where this one fits.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. All stones are present and bright, with light wear from age. Please look closely at all photos, as they are part of the description.
