Authenticity Guarantee
Every piece is hand-selected, cleaned, and described using over 20 years of vintage experience. When a listing says a piece is vintage, it is vintage. If an item isn't as described, I'll refund you in full, including shipping.
Vintage Condition
Every piece here is pre-loved and often decades old, so expect gentle signs of age and use, like light scratches, softened plating or finish, small marks, or patina. That's part of each piece's history and charm, and nothing will look fresh off a showroom floor.
Anything beyond normal wear, such as chips, cracks, repairs or damage, is always pointed out in the description and shown in the photos. If an item arrives with a flaw I didn't mention, my return policy has you covered.

Vintage Chinese Satsuma Style Pottery Puppy Figurine | Yellow Crackle Glaze, Floral Moriage & Gilt | Play Bow Dog Statue | Hand Painted | 13"
He's been holding this play bow for decades and nobody has thrown the ball yet. This vintage Chinese Satsuma-style pottery puppy figurine is a big, heavy pup with his front legs stretched out, rump up and tail curled over his back, ready to pounce on whatever you leave on the coffee table.
Every inch of him is decorated. He's glazed a golden yellow with a fine crackle, stippled all over with tiny red dots, then covered in hand-painted chrysanthemums, lotus blossoms and butterflies in pink, coral and lavender, with scrolling vines in black, oxblood and gold. Many of the outlines are raised (moriage) and gilded, so you can feel the pattern under your fingertip. He has a lavender nose, a gold-speckled muzzle, long floppy ears edged in coral, and black paws with gold swirl toes.
"Satsuma style" pottery borrows the look of Japan's famous Satsuma ware: crackled glaze, busy hand-painted flowers, raised enamel and lots of gold. China made a great deal of it for export in the later 20th century, and the bold animal figures are a favorite with chinoiserie and maximalist decorators. Learn more in our Satsuma style guide and Collecting Vintage Figurines.
Pair it with our cobalt chinoiserie ginger jar or cloisonné floral bud vase for a little Asian-inspired corner.
Underside: The bottom of each paw is unglazed, showing the dark, dense clay body with some chalky white residue, which is normal for this kind of pottery. Two of the legs are open underneath, and there's a small vent hole in the belly. No maker's mark.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with bright, glossy color. No chips or cracks. A little crazing in the glaze, plus light wear to the gilt on the paw tips and a few high points. Like every piece in the shop, he's pre-loved, not showroom-new. Please see all photos.
