Return Policy
Changed your mind? Contact me within 30 days of delivery. Items must be returned unworn, in the packaging they were shipped in, and securely packed. Buyer pays return shipping unless the item was not as described. Refunds are issued to your original payment method within 5 business days of receiving the item.
Damaged in transit: Photograph the item and packaging and email me within 5 days of delivery, and I will refund your purchase, including shipping. Photos must show the actual item and packaging as received.

What would you tuck inside a butterfly? This Chinese painted enamel trinket box is shaped like a butterfly with two hinged wing lids. The wings are painted in blues and turquoise with red and yellow borders, and the sides show pink peonies, green leaves and yellow-green scrolls on a deep blue ground, all edged in gilt trim.
Unlike cloisonné, which uses raised metal wires to separate the colors, painted enamel is brushed on by hand over a copper body and fired, so the surface is smooth to the touch. Learn the difference in Cloisonné vs. Painted Enamel.
Condition: Good vintage condition with bright enamel on the outside, and both wing lids open on the center hinge. There is an enamel chip on the inside of one wing lid, about 3/4" long, where the copper shows through; it's hidden when the box is closed. A small dark red mark inside the base and light wear to the gilt edges. A Made in China foil label is on the base. Please see all photos.
