About vintage rhinestones
Rhinestones are faceted glass stones, often backed with foil to bounce the light. Aurora borealis, or AB, stones have an iridescent coating that flashes pink, blue and gold, a look that took off in the mid-1950s. Prong-set stones are generally a sign of better-made costume jewelry than glued-in ones.
We choose pieces with bright stones and every stone in place. Keep rhinestones dry, because water can cloud the foil backing.
