This antique Waechtersbach barrel jar is glossy white ceramic with two bands of cobalt blue flowers and trailing vines in the Blue Onion (Zwiebelmuster) style, each framed by fine blue lines, with a wide plain band through the middle. The base carries the green Waechtersbach factory stamp, a striped shield between two swan heads, a mark that reference guides date to about 1896 to 1903.

It's an open jar with no lid, 7" tall, and it's just right as a utensil crock by the stove, a vase for a big bunch of flowers or a cachepot on a shelf. It's lovely in farmhouse, cottage and grandmillennial kitchens, and with any collection of blue and white pottery.

Condition: Very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or damage. There are small black specks on the inside bottom. They do not wash out and appear to be from the original manufacturing, not from use. The unglazed foot ring shows dark speckling and wear from age.
